After a valiant struggle, Mrs. Theresa Arceneaux Dugas, has found serene peace, passing from this life towards the next. She passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the age of 75, surrounded by her loving family at Iberia Medical Center. Mrs. Dugas was a native of Carencro, LA and a resident of Avery Island, LA. She was born on January 26, 1936 to the late Thomas Arceneaux and Louise Lawyer Arceneaux. Later she married the late Hilson Dugas Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Five daughters Mary Dugas, Kathy Dugas, Elizabeth Dugas Robles, Linda Dugas Louviere all of New Iberia, LA and Jamie Dugas Colson of Avery Island, LA. Three sons Milton Sam Dugas, Hilson Dugas Jr. and Lionel Dugas all of New Iberia, LA. One sister Veronica Alexander of St. Martinville, LA. One brother Floyd Arceneaux of Avery Island, LA. She also leaves to cherish her memories Twenty loving grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She now reunites with: her husband Hilson Dugas Sr. Her parents Thomas & Louise Arceneaux. Two sisters Mary Barras and Betty Ledet. Four brothers Claude Arceneaux, Thomas Arceneaux, Charles Arceneaux and Leroy Arceneaux and two sons John Dugas and Harold Dugas.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, April 15, 2011 beginning at 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Journet and Bolden Funeral Home, 711 South Corinne, New Iberia, LA then again at the Funeral Home on Saturday April 16, 2011 beginning at 7 a.m. until time of departure to the Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Msg. Ronald Broussard at St. Edward Catholic Church,175 Ambassador Lemelle, New Iberia, LA on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Edward Catholic Church Cemetery.
