Pastor Sandral L. Harding Nerve

Pastor Sandral Louise Harding Nerve was born May 14, 1948 in New Iberia, Louisiana to the late Lionel and Hazel Harding. She was called from labor to reward on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 2:48 P.M. at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana after a brief illness.

Pastor Nerve began her Christian journey at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Jeanerette, Louisiana where she was baptized at an early age by the late Reverend H. Hill. It was at Mount Calvary that she began preparation for a life of service as a teacher, minister, and pastor. She continued this servitude until she was called to Glory. Later in life, Pastor Nerve was baptized by Elder James W. Proctor of First Church of God in Christ, Jeanerette, Louisiana. Answering the call of God into the ministry, she became founder and pastor of Joy Tabernacle Fellowship Center of New Iberia, Louisiana from 1988 until the time of her passing. She also served as pastor of Christ Praise and Worship Center Full Gospel Church, Jeanerette, Louisiana, from October, 1993 to March, 1994. Most recently, she served as a member under watch care along with Pastor Mary Thompson of Heart to Heart Fellowship Center of New Iberia, Louisiana.

Pastor Nerve was educated in the Iberia Parish School System, earning her high school diploma along with the class of 1966 at F. M. Boley High School.

She leaves to remember a life of joy and love: six children—Don (Diana)Davis of Atlanta, Georgia; Editha (James)Gradney of New Iberia; Shawn (Lovenia) Harding of Port Arthur, Texas; Tracey Harding, Jeric Nerve and Charles Lionel Nerve, all of New Iberia, Louisiana; fourteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers—William Harding and Louis Harding of Jeanerette, Louisiana; two sisters—Sedonia Belton of Beaumont, Texas and Carolyn Sue Harding of Jeanerette, Louisiana , and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She also leaves two special friends and colleagues in the ministry: Minister Enola Abraham and Minister LeeAnna Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lionel Harding, Jr. and Wilbur Harding; one sister, Shirley Ann Harding King and one great grandchild, Jada Simon.

The family request that visitation begin on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 8 a.m. at First Church of God and Christ, 1901 Martin Luther King Drive, Jeanerette, LA. Religious services will begin at 1 p.m. with Rev. James Proctor officiating. Pastor Nerve will be laid to rest at St. John Cemetery in Jeanerette, LA.
